Crafting Jewellery by Hand: Why It Matters.

Slow-made, small-batch, and full of intention.
Every piece of Achillea Jewellery begins life in my workshop in Eton, Windsor, not in a factory, not on a production line. Just me, my tools, and my jewellers bench.
There is something grounding about working with your hands. It slows you down. You notice more. You care more. It’s not just about the finished piece it’s about how it was made, and what it stands for.
When I make jewellery by hand, I’m choosing to create less, but better. I’m choosing quality over quantity, and individuality over mass production. That matters, especially now.
Handmade means less waste.
I don’t over-produce. I don’t throw away batches. I use what I need, rework what I can, and the amazing thing about silver and the metal clay is that both are completely reusable materials. It's a slower, smaller process and it’s more sustainable.
It also means each piece is unique. No two items are exactly the same, and I love that. The 24k is cut out and applied by hand so the shapes vary and I think that’s part of the magic. The tiny marks of the maker’s hand, the subtle differences, the imperfections that remind you this was made for someone, by someone, not by a machine.

As you know, Nature plays a big part in how I design, and also how I work. I find that there is a rhythm to it. Patience, seasonality, light. Crafting by hand feels aligned with that. It keeps me grounded, creative, connected, and focused on the why, not just the what.
So when you wear something from Achillea Jewellery you’re not just wearing a necklace. You’re wearing time, intention, and a whole lot of care.
