My intention, for this first part of the year, is to bring you along with me through my whole design process, from initial research, inspo to sketching through to the jewellery making process, in real time. As I plan to launch my next jewellery collection in June!
I am a dolly-daydreamer! I need deadlines and accountability. So if it's ok with you, you will be my accountability buddy, a creative check in point. And I hope by doing this, it connects you to the final pieces having known their origin and meaning from the start. I feel quite vulnerable sharing this process, as it isn't the polished final pieces all presented nicely, but I really hope it is of interest and an insight into how I work.
So here goes...
You may remember back in Autumn I shared a few of pages of my collaging/sketchbook, no rules just freedom, this was to get my creativity flowing without any jewellery designs in mind. In fact it was more of a personal journal, not related to Achillea.
I created this page. Which i named "Sew the Seeds" (side note/ the link to this image takes you through to Pinterest. (Are you on Pinterest? I LOVE IT!). I posted my sketchbook page as a Pin and it received 8.7K views, 352 clicks and 116 people saved it! for me this opened my eyes up into how interested people are in collage and sketch books) |
My sketchbook lead me onto a visit to Kew Gardens, it was autumn and I knew the colours would be beautiful. I then entered a room painted the exact yellow of the Achillea Flower, one of my brand colour- a sign or what!! And on seeing the botanical drawings and sketch archives...I was totally inspired. What if the botanical drawings could be the start of the new jewellery collection....? |

So at present I am full of ideas and inspiration. I just need to try to focus. And come back to "the seed" I have been looking at echinacea flowers, and the delicate textures of icelandic poppies, and not to forget the achillea flower! ![]() |
the image below is 001 moodboard "January" start point next to this moodboard I have written a note to myself: "Always come to this to refer to when lost, this is the vibe" |
